Jaiden had his last T-Ball Storm game this past weekend. He played 2nd Base in the 1st inning, Right Field in the 2nd inning and Pitcher in the final inning. Jaiden had a good game scooping up everything that came his way and even managed to make a few outs in the process. The season is over, so it's now time to get ready for some summer fun (and continue to practice some baseball, AND start getting ready for Flag Football).

Ida Lee Water Park
Ida Lee opened a new water park last Month. We made our first trip over today before the thunderstorm rolled in. Quinn really loved the lazy river. She kept smiling and waving at the lifeguards as we floated by and she kept trying to lean over the tube to splash the water.

Storm Photos from Game 2 / Game 3 news
These are some pictures from the Storm's 2nd game of the season last week. Jaiden is doing good. Today was our third game. Jaiden had a couple of nice plays in the third inning from the pitching mound. Good fielding and throws to third base to get some "outs". For clarification, we don't count outs in t-ball. Even if a kid is out he still gets to run the bases.

Bring Your Sons & Daughters to Work
Last Friday was Bring Your Sons & Daughters to work day. I brought Delaney and Jaiden to see the Freedom Center where I work. They enjoyed a day of tours and presentations. Their favorite presentations were the Bomb Dog and the FAMS Weapons Training Simulator. Both got to use the simulator and did very well with it. Delaney and Jaiden are right in the center of this picture (Delaney pink and Jaiden green/white). At the right of the picture is a display that is seen when you first walk through the door. This display consists of a steel beam from the World Trade Center that was bent into the shape of a ribbon, in the center is a piece of US Airways Flight 93 that went down in Pennsylvania, and the bottom is rubble from the Pentagon. It serves as a great reminder to the role of TSA in Homeland Security.

Jaiden's First T-Ball game
Jaiden's first T-Ball game was today. He had a good game. Both hits were solid. He had the highlight reel play of the game. The final batter of the inning gets to clear the bases. The batter hit the ball to shortstop and Jaiden moved up to field it. He tagged out the runner going from 2nd to 3rd then tagged out the runner that started at 1st for an unassisted double play. It was a heads up play by the boy to keep playing even though he had already tagged one player out.

Easter Sunday
We woke up this morning and attended the morning service at church so the Easter Bunny would have time to visit us. When we got home the kids baskets were full and there were Eggs hidden in the yard. They immediately ran around the yard to gather their loot. Delaney noticed her surprise gift from the Easter Bunny first. She got a new pair of roller blades. Right beside those was a new bike for Jaiden. He was super excited. But that was only the tip of the mountain. When we came inside we had breakfast for lunch and let the kids go through their baskets. The pain of waiting was too much to bear so we sent them downstairs to find their gift from Mommy and Daddy. After letting them look for a minute they came upstairs and found Disney Princesses and Backyard Baseball at the top of the stairs. But wait, the X-Box isn't working anymore. So what could they possibly play them on?? Last picture in this post gives the answer. Both screamed and Jaiden looked like he just won the Superbowl. I swear, the kid was actually shaking he was so excited. He even spiked the Backyard Baseball game.

Spring Break
Yes, you got it. SPRING BREAK!!!! For Spring Break we took the kids to visit their Great Grandmother in snowy Pittsburgh. OK. So it just snowed a little bit Monday night and a lot Tuesday morning but it still snowed. Anyways, the kids got to visit Mema on Monday afternoon. Much to my surprise, Quinn sat right with her and didn't squirm or cry. Mema seemed very upbeat. Monday was ice-cream social day so the kids also got to have ice-cream with her. We woke up Tuesday morning to snow and drove through it most of the way home. We had a couple of flurries in Leesburg but nothing major. So that is the beginning of our Spring Break. More to come later depending on if I carry the camera around with me or not.

T-Ball
Jaiden had his first T-Ball practice today. In his first season in flag football he was a Hurricane. In his first T-Ball season he is a Storm. What's next? Will he be a hockey Avalanche and a LaCrosse Earthquake?? Anyways. Jaiden had a good time despite the cold of the morning. It's fun watching him do these things. He is all smiles nearly the entire time. Jaiden had good accuracy and arm strength throwing the ball. His first hit off the tee was pretty good too. He needs to learn how to use his glove better but for a first practice he did well. I have attached 2 video's and a picture from todays practice.

Emerald City Classic
Delaney had her first gymnastics meet today at APEX. This was the annual Emerald City Classic. She did very well finishing with a final score of 33.92. Her best events were the balance beam and the floor exercise which she scored a 9.00 on each. On the uneven bars she scored an 8.40 and on the vault she scored a 7.52. Delaney was nervous about how she would perform but she overcame the butterflies and did very well. Julie and I are very proud of her. Unfortunately, I missed her beam routine on video but here are her other routines.

Q-Pie the Explorer
Danger is on the way. Quinn is pulling herself up and trying to explore beyond the boundries of her family room prison. There will be no turning heads or running to the fridge for a drink without concern of a Q-Pie jailbreak now. Interestingly enough, if you look to the right of the picture you can see Jaiden encouraging her. I had a feeling he might be the evil mastermind behind this current development!!

Cool Springs Science Fair
Delaney participated in her first science fair today. Pictured with her is her 1st grade teacher Mrs. Dyer. Delaney's project was the life of a Butterfly. 1st graders are not judged so the pressure was off. Hopefully this experience will encourage her to do future science fairs as well.

NO SCHOOL!!!!
Finally we had more of a real snow. Well, half of a real snow anyways but enough for the kids to really have some fun. It started snowing around 5:00 am and continued until around 6:00 pm. The kids got out their sleds and tested sledding on the side of our yard and everyone elses. Nearly every kid in the neighborhood was out today. Quinn enjoyed looking at the snowflakes as they dropped. I think she might have caught a few on her tongue. We had a Hershey's Hot Chocolate break around lunch time but the kids were out nearly all day long.
